Traveller Assist, a leading medical assistance company specialising in Latin America, has been honoured with an Award for Business Excellence by the Peruvian Business Council, for supporting and promoting investment, business and safe travel opportunities in Peru.
Mr. Kaine, Head of Assistance at Traveller Assist, said: "It is an honour to have received this award and on behalf of myself and our team, I'd like to say thank you for this recognition. We have worked hard to establish our company in Peru, and building our network of healthcare providers. We look forward to continuing our efforts, assisting business and pleasure travellers, in Peru and throughout Latin America."
In 2016, it is estimated that 3.6 million tourists visited Peru, with the top tourist attractions being Machu Picchu, Colca Canyon, Plaza de Armas in Cusco, Uros Islands on Lake Titicaca (near Puno), the Santa Catalina Monastery in Arequipa and the Nazca Lines. This number is expected to increase to closer to 4 million tourists in 2017.
Jonathan Bancroft, Head of Security at Traveller Assist, said: "While Peru is stunningly beautiful and should be on everyone's bucket list to visit, it is not without risk. Peru attracts every type of traveller, from seniors to adventure travellers. The terrain and altitude alone are the leading causes of injury and sickness, with road traffic accidents accounting for the most injuries and altitude sickness being a factor in many illnesses."
