Medical repatriation for an injured mother and premature baby in Argentina

The wife of an executive went into labour at 27-weeks after being injured in a vehicle accident while travelling in Argentina.

Traveller Assist was activated by the husband's travel insurance company to provide an immediate medical referral in Buenos Aires. Our assistance centre coordinated ground transportation from the public hospital to a preferred network hospital of our choice, allowing us to closely monitor the mother and baby's health and progress.

Due to complications, the baby was delivered via c-section and spent five-weeks in intensive care, while the mother spent three-weeks in intensive care with a ruptured spleen, head and facial lacerations and a broken leg.

After seven-weeks, both mother and baby were strong and healthy enough to travel.

Traveller Assist helped obtain travel documents for the new baby and provided a successful medical repatriation to Auckland, New Zealand.
