Selfie tragedy leads to complex repatriation of mortal remains

After a tourist plunged to his death while posing for a 'selfie' on top of a waterfall - the Traveller Assist team were activated to coordinate a repatriation of mortal remains from a remote region of Suriname, to mainland Europe. We used a trusted, local ground-agent from our provider network, who is a medical doctor, to complete all required documentation with the coroner at the morgue - and our team coordinated ground and air transportation for a successful repatriation back to Europe. In addition, our medical team arranged telehealth psychological support for two friends of the deceased who witnessed the accident, and provided travel assistance to get them home as soon as possible.
